I seem to have hit a bit of a wall the past couple days.

Work has been exhausting for the past month and it’s hitting everywhere else. This is the first weekend I haven’t had to do any work (but I still need to log on this afternoon…) and I am just very damn tired.

So tired.

And today, snow shoveling is on the to-do list, too. Oh joy. And cook dinner, something I should NOT have agreed to, LOL.

And going back through my projected finances for the year… Yeah, I’m gonna have to raid my Roth IRA. Not like, today, but it’s gotta happen, otherwise I’m gonna be behind the eight ball all fucking year. But, at least I have a Roth IRA I *can* raid. But it’s depressing as hell.

That all being said, I am going to TRY to get all my shit done today.

If I can pry myself up off the sofa.

2021…yay

Been a pretty productive month, if not a productive weekend. I’m just exhausted.

Went through my financial projections for the whole year, and yeesh.

If everything is OK, I’ll come out barely ahead, and far short of my savings goals. If anything goes sideways, I’ll have to raid my Roth IRA.

If we get bonuses (management says yes, but I’ll believe it when it hits my bank account) and my May dental appointment is cheaper than I think it will be, and the insurance company actually fucking processes my claim from November, it will be better, but I still won’t make my savings goals.

The pay cuts, delayed and significantly reduced raises just really hurt. (I was supposed to get promoted in October, now it looks like it won’t happen until 2022.)

No time or energy for a side hustle – worked all last weekend, should have worked yesterday but just didn’t have it in me, and should be working today, but the system is down. Probably for the best.

So, yeah…

I set the bar low for 2021 and then we had an insurrection. Threw me off my game a wee bit, but I kept at it, and I’m putting the week in the win column.

Ate really well – discovered my markets single serve salad kits. Tasty and a perfect replacement for pandemic-closed salad bar.

Four yoga sessions and a strength session.

Vitamins and meds every day.

Bed made. Dishes done. Bins out and back in.

OH – and being single with a queen sized bed and a small nightstand, I have the problem of “things accumulating on the other side of the bed” and was always trying and failing to keep it clear. Finally just embraced it – took one of my Target baskets upstairs and put the various bits & bobs in it, and a tiny trash can. It works. (Also got one of the tiny trash cans for the end table next to the sofa. Good call.)

Finances… Firmly in the red YTD, but we also got paid on 12/31, so… But, should be fine when I get paid on Thursday.

So, we are gonna set the bar LOW for 2021

Seriously, given what we went through in 2020, I’m just happy to have made it through Covid free.

For January, I’m going to focus on my physical and mental health more than anything. Daily skincare routines (sounds odd, but I always feel better when I wash my face), staying out of my very expensive dentist’s office, yoga a few times a week, smoke less, eat better.

Nothing radical. But everything gets a spot on the Tody list and so far, so good.

Just sticking with the bare bones around the house. If I try to add too much, I know I’ll get overwhelmed and nothing will get done.

Money wise, January is looking good, especially if I don’t eat, LOL. Still working towards a move eventually.

Another small success

Got the water meter replaced, and I didn’t realize how stressed I was about it until it was done and I pretty much passed out and napped for an hour or so.

The little drinks cart I got for the kitchen arrived – pain in the ass to put together, but it cleared up SO MUCH floor space in the kitchen.

Today I really just want to be a wastrel and nap on the couch all day, but at a minimum, there are dishes to be done and dinner to be cooked, so alas, things must get done.

Let’s call the week a success.

Things are good enough for the water meter to be replaced.

Didn’t quite make the 10% of fucking off time spent cleaning goal – weeknights are so very hard, and I couldn’t even begin to tell you why.

I get a decent amount of sleep – 7 hours minimum. My job is not strenuous – I literally sit on my ass and dick around on a computer all day.

And yet, I am fuck all WORN OUT by the end of the day. I’d love to blame the pandemic, but it’s not really new.

I think for the next “deadline” – Halloween – I am going to focus exclusively on the living room & kitchen, since I spend a lot of time in both places, and they’re both cluttered AF.

So, we’ll see how that goes.

Thank you car goddesses

Car passed inspection with no issues! Will probably need new front tires in the next six months, but that is not something I have to deal with today.

And now I can make the appointment with the dentist. Of course I have work deadlines that have to be taken into consideration, so can’t be this week and the way they get booked up, it would probably be next week anyway.

And MetLife has revamped their website and none of my claims for the past three years even show now. Awesome job, folks!

And of course, I had to go back to work after dinner (love those 12 hour days) – got in about 15 minutes of work around the house – can already see the difference in the living room, which is nice. I’m really, really hoping I can get to this next work deadline at the end of the week with regular hours – killed me to lose so much time today.

But, I think I made enough inroads tonight to keep things on track work-wise, so I can keep things on track cleaning-wise.

Gonna have to call it a day

Only got about ~40 minutes of work done, as I’ve been fighting an on & off stress headache most of the day. (Stress? Why would I have stress?)

But, despite it not being a ton of time, what I did manage has made a nice difference.

I still can’t flake out after work this week, but things are well in hand. Finish off the kitchen and do what I can in the living room, and it will be as ready as it can be for the water meter repair folks.

On the money front… If it weren’t for this damn dental bill, I’d likely end the month in the black. ($900+ if I don’t eat, but yeah, I’m going to eat, and that dental bill ain’t magically going away.)

As it stands now, it’s going to take until May at a minimum to make up for this, and again, that’s “not eating” figures. If by some miracle we get bonuses, that will help quite a lot, but I’m not hanging my hat on that right now.

I should at least get my flex spending money back, but it has to go through insurance first, and they’re slow and good at losing claims and/or rejecting them without explanation. (It’s all electronic and they’re still not showing the submission from a week ago, which is frustratingly typical.)

And my car is in the shop for it’s safety inspection and an oil change. PLEASE LET EVERYTHING BE IN WORKING ORDER.

I’ll get through it and back to where I was, it’s just frustrating to make progress and then have it all go to shit.

So yeah, gonna hold off on replacing those shoes as long as I can – they don’t have holes in the bottom yet, LOL.

Pffffftttt….

Speaking of everything costing money, my “wear all the damn time” flats are falling apart.

They don’t owe me anything, I’ve had them for five years and worn the hell out of them.

But, $70 to replace them, even on sale.

I can still get some wear out of them, there aren’t holes in the bottom yet, but it’s time.
